Because of B.R.A.Y.D.E.N. was started by sisters, Michelle and Lauren, in May 2010, in memory of Brayden Russell Zieg. It is our desire to see others become more aware of the dangers of water, to help educate families in water safety and to prevent future drownings.
OUR MISSION:
Our Mission at Because of B.R.A.Y.D.E.N. is to educate the
community about the importance of water safety. Through raising awareness,
providing materials, and networking, we will raise the standards of safety to
reduce the number of annual drownings.
Michelle Zieg, Co- Founder
Brayden's Mommy
Michelle was born in Savannah, GA but was raised in Maryland from a very young age. Water was always a part of her life growing up with yearly beach trips, water park season passes and membership at the local pool. She and her siblings took swimming lessons at an early age, and Michelle joined the local swim team. After graduating high school, Michelle attended Valley Forge Christian College outside Philadelphia, PA and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, with a minor in Social Services. Married in 2001 to her high school sweetheart, Jake, the couple now lives in Summerville, SC with 12 year old son, Nathaniel, and 8 year old daughter, Elliana. Michelle hopes to share her heart and her story so that other lives may be saved. She believes there is always good and positive that can come from something so difficult, and she looks forward to making a difference...one child at a time.
